Forging Ahead - More About the Conference

Each year, the Washington Food Coalition (WFC) hosts a conference, offering workshops on a variety of topics relevant to emergency food providers including nutrition, fundraising, operations, and food safety. This year the focus is on Forging Ahead: Equipping food providers to sustain and excel when they’re needed most.

Attendees will have the opportunity to develop new collaborations, share information about tools and resources, hear about new and innovative programs and services, and network with others who share in their commitment to alleviate hunger.

The conference will feature a mix of keynote, plenary and breakout sessions.

On Thursday, our keynote speaker will be Michael Nye, developer of the exhibit "About Hunger & Resilience". Learn more about Michael's work and mission by clicking here.

On Friday, our plenary speaker will be Reverend Kirby Unti,who is the pastor of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, the 2007 Citizen of the Year in Renton, and the founder of multiple social service programs. Learn more about St. Matthews by clicking here.

We are also offering a variety of exciting tours at local wineries, organic farms, and food banks as well as a bonus workshop on Wednesday. This mixture provides an experience that is both informative and fun!

Breakout sessions include: Social Networking, Marketing and Branding Your Organization, Telling Client Stories, Meal Program Support, Food Safety & Nutrition, Cultural Diversity, Best Practices, Community Gardens, Client Card Database Training, Tips & Tricks of Excel, and more. Back by popular demand are top-rated presenters Korey Korfiatis and Amy Lewis.
